Do you have any old injuries that still give you grief? Like tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, recurring back pain, knee issues, etc? Or maybe it’s a scar that doesn’t heal or still looks ‘angry’ even though it’s been months or years?
We have this idea that our bodies should just get it together and move on.
You may think, ‘yes, I am stressed out of my mind, but that shouldn’t cause me any physical issues!’
Well, that would be nice, wouldn’t it? If our bodies would just keep going like nothing’s happening.
Luckily, our bodies are like our secret informant, trying to tell us to listen to our own wisdom.
Our bodies our YELLING at us.
They are sending us non-verbal messages constantly that are intended to provide us with valuable information.
It comes out in the form of subtle sensations at first.
If we don’t listen (as we’ve been taught to ignore our bodies entirely) the signals get louder and louder, creating more severe symptoms until we can’t ignore it anymore.
If it gets bad we usually can’t make the connection to the source of the problem, so we try to fix the symptom. It’s usually not an easy fix, because we are not aware of the reason the symptoms started in the first place.
So, if you believe a physical injury only involves the mechanics of your body, you’re only getting part of the story.
